The name Henrik Vibskov is synonymous not only with a fashion label but also with a series of twisted yet captivating worlds created for each collection. Recent show titles like "The Sun Will Shine On The Assembly Line," "Biblioteca of Micro Selves," and "Bird In Face" exemplify the unique and mesmerizing universes he crafts.
Since graduating from Central St. Martins in 2001, Henrik Vibskov has produced 46 collections. He has been a staple on the official show schedule of Paris Men’s Fashion Week since January 2003, and in May 2012, he was inducted as an official member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Masculine.
Throughout his career, Henrik has frequently participated in festivals, contests, and talks. Highlights include designing a set for Roskilde Festival’s 50th anniversary in 2021, winning Brand of the Year at the Elle Awards 2020, and receiving the Cologne Thumber Award in 2017 and the Royal Thorval Bindesbøl Medal in Copenhagen in 2016. He has also delivered Artist Talks at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2020, Manchester Art Gallery in 2019, and Zurich Creative Week in 2019, among others.
Despite a policy of not gifting clothes to celebrities for commercial gain, Henrik Vibskov’s designs have been worn by artists like M.I.A., Kanye West, Björk, The Arctic Monkeys, Little Dragon, Sigur Rós, Franz Ferdinand, MUM, Lou Reed, LCD Soundsystem, and Devendra Banhart.
When he is not designing biannual collections or creating their corresponding universes, Henrik tours as the drummer for electronic musician Trentemøller and exhibits at art museums and galleries worldwide. His exhibitions include notable venues such as PS1 – MoMA in New York, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, ICA in London, Zeeuws Museum in Holland, Kiyomizu-Dera Temple in Kyoto, Japan, Wilhelm Wagenfeld Haus in Bremen, NAI Nederlands Architectuur Instituut in Rotterdam, The Textile Museum in Washington, USA, and Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin in Paris, in collaboration with Elmgreen & Dragset.
Henrik also collaborates with choreographer and scenographer Alexander Ekman and musician Mikael Karlsson on various creative projects, designing costumes for performances such as A Swan Lake with The National Norwegian Ballet, The Escapist with The Royal Swedish Ballet, and Cow with The Finnish National Ballet.
Henrik Vibskov’s collections are sold in carefully selected shops worldwide, including Harvey Nichols in Hong Kong, Fenwick in London, La Garçonne in New York, and his own stores in Copenhagen and New York. His designs have also found a market in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Over his career, he has received numerous accolades, such as the Beck’s Student Future Prize in 2000, Årets Nye Navn in 2003, the Danish Design Council Award in 2007, Brand of the Year at the DANSK Magazine Fashion Awards in 2008, a Præmieringen from the Danish Arts Foundation in 2009, the 2011 Söderberg Prize (the highest endowed fashion prize worldwide), the Jury Prize at the Danish Fashion Awards in 2012, the Cologne Thumber Award in 2017, and Brand of the Year at the Elle Awards in 2020.
Henrik has also been a lecturer and jury member at prestigious institutions such as Central Saint Martins in London, the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid, and the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
